Announcement from the MACHA BoD
"As some of you have now realized, we have discovered a scheduling issue that has arose out of our league meeting in Peoria. The ACHA DIII Regionals are currently scheduled for the same weekend as the MACHA tournament, February 18-20, 2011. Having never had teams in our league from the DIII division, this was an unfortunate oversight during the exciting transition of some of our MACHA teams.
After careful consideration, your Board of Directors has decided that for this year only, we will move forward with that date. This decision was made due to our commitment to that weekend with our tournament host in Peoria, as well as other weekends having games already scheduled with both league and non-league games. Obviously, we will make sure this doesn't happen in future seasons and apologize in advance for any difficulties this may create.
Our solution will be that any MACHA teams who qualify for DIII Regionals will have the option to pass on the MACHA tournament. With the large numbers at that level of the MACHA, we expect that the next team that would be eligible for post season play based on standings, would be extended a playoff invite.
We would be happy to answer any questions about this situation and the decision that was made. Contact information for all Board members is available above. We hope that everyone is gearing up for another hockey season and wish good luck to all our MACHA teams!"
